Why Enprise is listing on the NZAX

Enprise Group will list on the NZAX board on Monday 1st December 2014 under the code “ENS”.

Our reasons for choosing to list in New Zealand are as follows;

Our team at Enprise has a strong history of building successful software businesses that have been sold to larger multinational companies and thereby produced good returns to New Zealand investors. Each of these businesses has been based in New Zealand and all but one has predominantly sold its products overseas and within New Zealand.

Now that Enprise has proven its ability to build successful software businesses and return significant value to shareholders by exiting those businesses, we are about to embark on a new chapter of our evolution, which is to build a public New Zealand-based company which becomes a large profitable technology group that will return long-term value to its shareholders, staff and customers.

The “New Enprise” will be a cash earner, not a cash burner. We hope to attract investors with a long-term view, rather than speculators who look to the short term. We will be looking to grow our business by acquiring businesses that add value to our group and strategically align with our existing businesses.

Enprise Group is a platform for growing global software businesses. That platform already includes strong international partnerships with software giants SAP and MYOB, as well as a channel of nearly one hundred accounting software re-sellers who sell or have sold Enprise products, throughout North America, Australasia, Africa and the UK. Enprise already has a trusted brand around the world with it’s own SME-focused re-seller channel.

As an example of Enprise’s M&A strategy; Enprise Group recently acquired Datagate Innovation which is an early-stage start-up that has built a Cloud-based multi-tenanted billing and analytic portal for Telco and Utility companies. There is huge demand for that product in New Zealand and Datagate already has a queue of local clients waiting, as well as a strategic relationship with a major New Zealand Telco. Our strategy is to prove the business model in New Zealand, establish a base of reference clients – and then take the product to the world, leveraging our international base of partners. This is a strategy similar to what Enprise followed previously with EMS-Cortex, which successfully grew its international base of Telco customers before being sold to Citrix Corporation.

When I invest, I invest predominantly in people – and I base that on their track records. I encourage potential investors to research the track record of Enprise Group and compare what was achieved in the past with what we are aiming to do in the future. We are looking to build our base of long-term investors to join us on this journey.

Enprise Group and its team have a strong track record in building valuable businesses. Here are some high-profile, high-value businesses that form part of Enprise’s value-creation history.

PC Direct

PC Direct (1989–1998)
PC Direct manufactured, distributed and supported personal computers under its own brand in New Zealand. Its sales channel was the direct, phone-based, channel by-passing the reseller network. Growth of PC Direct to become the #1 reseller of desktop computers in New Zealand was leveraged off the company’s integrated system – linking design, inventory, production, sales, despatch, service and accounting. The systems developed by PC Direct provided one of the company’s main competitive advantages.
Enprise CEO Mark Loveys, Enprise CFO Elliot Cooper and Enprise Datagate COO Steve Southon were all members of the executive management team of PC Direct and all made significant contributions to building the automated systems of the business.
Business sold in 1996 for NZ$ 27M

Exonet

Exonet (1998-2000)
Exonet was an ERP software company founded by Mark Loveys, Maurice Bryham and David McKee Wright that developed the Exonet suite of business software that is the top-selling mid-market ERP in Australia and New Zealand, owned by MYOB and known as MYOB EXO. Enprise Solutions is the top reseller of MYOB EXO in New Zealand with sales offices in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Sydney and Melbourne.
Enprise CEO Mark Loveys was a founder and original developer of Exonet. Enprise CFO Elliot Cooper was CFO and a product designer. Enprise Datagate COO Steve Southon was Development Manager.
Business sold in 2000 for A$ 30M

Datasquirt

Datasquirt (2000-2011)
Datasquirt was a Cloud software company that developed a non-voice multi-channel messaging solution for corporate contact centres. Datasquirt floated on the ASX in 2007 and had offices in Auckland, Sydney and London. The business was sold in 2011 and the remaining listed shell acquired the Enprise businesses, renaming itself to Enprise Group Ltd.
Enprise CEO Mark Loveys was a founder and original developer of Datasquirt. Enprise CFO Elliot Cooper joined as CFO. Enprise directors Lindsay Philips and Jens Neiser were directors and investors in Datasquirt.
Business sold in 2011 for US$ 12.5M

EMS Cortex

EMS Cortex (2006-2011)
EMS Cortex was a Cloud software company that was acquired by Enprise in 2006 for NZ$ 2.52M as part of an investment in Enprise by TMT Ventures. EMS Cortex created a Cloud Control Panel for provisioning Cloud Software. Key customers were Telecom NZ, Telus of Canada, Melbourne IT and other major Telcos & Hosting Companies around the world
Enprise CEO Mark Loveys and Enprise CFO Elliot Cooper were CEO and CFO respectively, while EMS Cortex was a division of Enprise.
Business sold in 2011 for US$ 11.5M

Enprise Job & SAP B1 for DCAA compliance

DCAA Compliance

Contractors that supply goods and services to the United States Department of Defense must adhere to regulations governing the way they configure and operate their accounting systems. The DCAA (Defense Contract Audit Agency) is the government agency that audits and assesses their compliance with these regulations based on the type of contract they have with the government.

A contractor is said to be “DCAA Compliant” when their accounting systems and processes comply with the regulations set out in the web site www.dcaa.mil

The following capabilities of SAP Business One and Enprise Job provide an ideal and powerful platform for configuring a DCAA compliant accounting and project costing solution;

  • Proper segregation of direct costs from indirect costs
  • The ability to identify and accumulate direct costs by contract
  • A logical and consistent method for the allocation of indirect costs to intermediate and final cost objectives
  • Accumulation of costs under general ledger control
  • A timekeeping system that identifies employee’s labor by intermediate or final cost objectives
  • A labor distribution system that charges direct and indirect labor to the appropriate cost objectives
  • Interim determination of costs charged to a contract through routine posting to books of account.
  • Exclusion from costs charged to Government contracts of amounts that are not allowable pursuant to FAR Part 31, Contract Cost Principles and Procedures, or other contract provisions
  • Identification of costs by contract line item and units (as if each unit or lines was a separate contract) if required by the proposed contract
  • Segregation of pre-production costs from production costs

New Enprise Products and Services for 2014

Last year was a hard working year for Enprise Software. Most of that work was in preparation for this year, when we are releasing a string of new products and services to our channel partners.

Firstly, we’ve taken notice of the overwhelming demand for consulting services for the more advanced and challenging Enprise implementations. Enprise partners can now hire expert consultants from Enprise Consulting Services to work in conjunction with their teams on some of the more demanding projects. Our charge-out rates are set competitively so that partners can on-sell this service work to their clients. We can even be virtual members of our partners’ teams when required.

We also have a number of exciting product releases scheduled for the first half of 2014, including;

  • An integration between Enprise Job and coresuite mobile.
  • Major new releases of Enprise Job and Enprise Rent
  • APP Management Dashboards for Enprise Job
  • Enprise Anywhere – an all new tablet-oriented HTML5 client for Enprise Job
  • Enprise Job and Enprise Rent versions for SAP HANA

So this year will be just as busy for the Enprise Software team as last year was, only now our work will be a lot more visible to our partner community and clients.

ASUG SAP Business One Summit 2013

ASUG Business One Summit 2013 was held at the Anaheim Convention Center, near Disneyland.

Each year Enprise attends the ASUG Business One Summit in the United States, where we meet with our reseller partners, customers, sales prospects, SAP executives and other SAP Solution Partners. This year the event was held at the Anaheim Convention Center, in Anaheim, California. The event has grown in numbers significantly each year and this time was no exception.

The hottest topic of interest with our partners and customers this year, was our new integration between Enprise Job and coresuite time. This enables users to remotely enter time and materials information against jobs in Enprise Job, in a an on-line or off-line mode, using an iPhone or iPad.

Also popular with visitors to the Enprise table were the exclusive-to-New Zealand lemon flavoured L&P chocolates

The Road to HANA

SAP has a powerful new platform for business software called HANA. HANA stands for “High Performance Analytical Appliance” and it utilizes new “In-Memory” database technology, made possible by the new generation of computer servers that can have massive amounts of very fast Random Access Memory (RAM). The HANA database is column-based instead of row-based like conventional SQL servers, so the way it accesses data internally is completely different. HANA can handle massive workloads such as performing complex analytical queries at the same time as processing heavy transactional throughput – all on the same HANA appliance.

So what does all this mean for business customers? In short it means that business software running on HANA can run more concurrent users on larger databases more quickly than conventional database servers and at the same time produce complex real-time data warehousing-type analytics without having to run a separate server. Real time analytics is able to run at the same time as heavy transactional throughput on the same database. Wow.

At Enprise, we are excited about the new capabilities that HANA will give to our customers. Enprise Job customers on HANA will be able to run more concurrent users more quickly on larger databases and we will be able to produce more sophisticated reports and analysis of job and transaction data.

We expect that our largest Enprise Job customer – Nashua Communications of Midrand, South Africa (who run 300+ SAP Business One users and 60+ Enprise Job users) will be one of our first customers to fully switch their Business One system to HANA. At present they are running Business One HANA Analytics and are very pleased with the powerful search and analytical capabilities that is giving them. The next step for Nashua is to move all of their transactional processing on to HANA.

Enprise Job now in French!

Maybe it’s because I was born in Montreal but grew up in New Zealand without learning to speak French, that makes me so excited to see Enprise Job and Enprise Rent fully translated to the French language. I may not be able to speak French myself, but at least my software can!

Our French Canadian partners have long been asking for French translations of our very popular Enprise Job and Enprise Rent solutions for SAP Business One – and we are very pleased to deliver this for them in version 8.81.201, available for general release later this month.

Enprise is serious about providing business solutions to the French language countries and regions. As for me, I intend to brush up on my own French language skills. Nous pouvons le faire!

SAP Business One, UK & Nordic Partner Day

Enprise product manager, James Brading and I arrived in London over the weekend in order to attend the UK & Nordics SAP Business One Partner Day on Tuesday 23rd April. Over the next few days we hope to meet with most of our resellers in this region.

Our main message to the partners here is that Enprise is now better equipped in the following ways to help them grow sales;

  • We have a new Technical Account Manager, Corban Slabbert who is based in the local time zone and is the first point of contact for our SAP Business One partners based in the UK, Nordics, Africa and Continental Europe. In addition to managing our partner relationships, Corban has product and technical expertise, so is well equipped to assist partners with sales and product related issues. This is in addition to Enprise’s web-based support and support tracking systems.
  • Since we last visited the UK, we now have a new product offering in the form of Enprise Rent, which extends the functionality of Enprise Job to give it functionality for businesses which have a project rental focus.
  • We have recently produced translations of our Enprise Job and Enprise Rent products to the French language. We also have a German partner producing a German translation. Further future translations are now being considered.

We are excited about the sales potential for Enprise SAP Business One solutions in the UK and Nordic region, given the strong market here for well proven software like ours that caters for service related industries. In the past, our partners and customers here have loved our products, but found that our lack of a local contact and time zone support limited our mutual success. This has now been addressed by the addition of Corban to our team, who is based in South Africa, specifically to be of service to this region.

All eyes on SAP HANA in Bratislava

Next week, April 17-19, around 270 SAP partners and personnel from around the world will meet in Bratislava, Slovakia for the SAP Business One HANA Tech-Summit. During this event, SAP Business One consultants and developers will gain knowledge and experience on SAP Business One running on SAP HANA.

James, Lita and I will be there from Enprise. We are in the process of adapting all of our solutions, (including Enprise Job and Enprise Rent) for SAP Business One to run on HANA.

HANA extends the reach of SAP Business One and partner solutions up-market to larger business with more users, data and analytical requirements.

We are excited to be part of this major market opportunity and are convinced that SAP Business One and solutions such as Enprise Job will benefit greatly from the industry-leading, game-changing analytical horsepower of SAP HANA.

Enprise goes to Bratislava

Next week James Brading, Lita Teng and I will travel from New Zealand to Bratislava, to attend the SAP Business One Tech-Summit. This is a global event where we will learn directly from SAP about their latest technologies, including HANA – SAP’s new High Performance Analytical Appliance.

HANA is of particular significance to Enprise, because we are presently developing the capability for all of our products to run on HANA. Similarly, SAP is also releasing all of its software to run on HANA – including SAP Business One.

HANA gives SAP Business One and solutions such as Enprise Job a lot more processing power and analytic capability, enabling the solutions to be suitable for larger customers with larger volumes of data and more sophisticated data analysis requirements.

Following the Tech-Summit, James and I will continue up to London for the SAP Business One UK & Nordics Partner Day.
